5 Attributes Women Look for in Men

What women look forLike it or not, there are certain things that women look for in a man. Don’t worry, you’re not born with them. Every guy has to develop these things into their character. That’s you and that’s me. It’s not a sure-fire way of getting the girl of your dreams but I’m pretty darn sure it will help you take care of her heart.

Webmaster’s Note: Ladies, you should check out Joy Tanchi-Mendoza’s blog entry on How to Attract the Right Kind of Man. You’ll learn from it. Promise.

Women Look for Men to Whom they can Give their Heart and Life to

That’s a fact. Every girl’s heart is a sacred treasure. One of the reasons why we are born and built with a wild heart is to find and pursue that perfect treasure we have often so longed for. We as men have to understand that a woman wants to give her heart to the right man. Her whole heart. The question you have to ask yourself is: Are you that man?

I knew a girl once who wanted to give her heart away, she was giving it for the third time. It was already broken twice. The pursuit of her heart means that the man needs to make sure he will take care of it – and take care of it well. This means he needs to know how to handle it, how to protect it, how to nurture it, and how to lead it.

How do you learn these things? By experience? Well, yes that’s one way of learning it – but that’s learning through mistakes. The best way to learn this is through God’s Word and through mentors who have been through it.

Takeaway: Make sure that you are able to take care of her heart. The world has broken it more than enough times.

Women Look for a Knight in Shining Armor

Surprised? Yes it’s more than just a fairy tale. It’s every woman’s dream. The thrill of being sought after, of being fought for, of being rescued. Guess what? You have to be that knight.

No there won’t be any dragons or ogres or dungeons to go through. It’s much worse than that. You will have to go through her deepest fears, her darkest times, her hurts and her security. You will have to fight – and win.

And you will have to keep it that way.

More of her fears will come – marriage, childbearing, leaving and cleaving, etc. You will have to keep fighting. You will have to keep protecting her. Assuring her that it’s going to be alright. That you’ll always be there with her – all the way.

Women Look for their Prince Charming

Who says that being romantic isn’t a plus? Women look for a man who they will fall in love with. Who will be able to touch the deepest parts of their longing to be pursued and wanted and won. Women look for a man who will be able to make them feel.

This is emotional love filled with the 5 love languages – time, touch, words, service, or gifts. Learn a thing or two from romantic movies that women love to watch. If you want to be the kind of guy that the girl you’re looking for will fall in love with, you better know how to be her prince charming.

Women Look for a Best Friend

Someone they can talk to and simply share their hearts out. Movies portray men as someone who is uninterested or irritated with what the wife has to say. That is a trap. It is not the norm. Deny it. Renew your mind.

It isn’t so hard being a best friend. All you have to do is to sit down, look her in the eye and listen to what she has to say. You don’t have to talk unless prompted or asked.

And if you’re tempted to say something unhelpful, remember that she is sharing because you are supposed to be her ‘safe haven’. Someone with whom she can share her heart out. Women need a listening ear.

Women Look for Leadership

“The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” – Genesis 2:23

There is a reason that God created Adam before Eve. That is because we have the responsibility of leadership. We pave the way for those who came after us. Women look for a leader. Someone who knows where he is going. Someone who knows what to do. Someone who can take them from one place in their life to another.

Someone who will take responsibility for her.

You have to have direction in life. You have to ‘know’ because it’s your job to ‘know’. The worst thing you can do is to rely on the woman to lead and to point your finger at her when things go wrong.

Tough List?

Yeah. Here’s some news for you: You will never attain to these things. I know I haven’t. It’s a journey. An everyday conscious effort to develop and push yourself to become these things for her because you love her. It’s tough. Very tough. In fact, it’s impossible.

You will need divine help to humble yourself each time you want to point the finger. You will have to discipline yourself to get up and take action and keep learning. These things don’t come naturally and they are not at all easy. Filling a woman’s heart is a lifelong commitment and teamwork.

The team? It’s you and God. You have to work together to make sure that you are the man. Her knight in shining armor. Her prince charming. Her best friend. Her leader and lover.

Without God, you can keep it up. For a year or two – or maybe even seven. But that’s about as far as you can go.

Taking care of a woman’s heart is a divine responsibility. Take away God from the picture and you’ll be devoured by the world. Unable to take care of even your own heart.

Always remember to set your eyes on the perfect role model of love, romance, knighthood, leadership, and friendship – the Lord Jesus Christ.
