Arguably two of the most popular acronyms that’s taking over the social media posts of millenials and the younger generation.

I’m a millenial. Born at the tail end – 1988.

While the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is real and resonates with a lot of people, I think that the bigger, more reasonable thing to be afraid of is your family’s future.

Let’s be honest: A lot of people don’t want to grow old alone. People want to find a companion, get married, settle down and have a family. Worrying too much about FOMO spells out disaster for your future because your finances are not up to it. Unless of course, you’re born with a silver spoon.

Let’s face it – we have a biological time frame. A hundred percent of all human beings die. So there is a time for everything. Every season in our lives. FOMO can come later in life but preparing to build a home cannot.

Be wise about how you spend your youth.

Because YOLO (You only live once).
