Apple and ma

Webmaster’s Note: This is an entry from my beloved wife who expressed her love and gratitude for her mom during our wedding day.

As the month of May comes to an end, I would like to once more honor all moms for what they have done, thank them for their sacrifices and respect them for their imperfections.

I will be starting my chapter of motherhood soon and by God’s grace, help and Word, I will be able to do as well as how my mother did for my siblings and I.

This post is especially for you ma and to all mothers out there. Be reminded that you are blessed, loved and beyond compare not only to the eyes of your children but also to our Loving Father, Creator and Saviour.  Your lives and love have been a huge influence and impact to who we are now and what we will become.

Here is the speech I gave to mom during my wedding that I’d like to share in order to honor her. Thank you and I love you so much:

Ma, ever since I was young, you have always been an epitome of beauty in my life. Strangers have countlessly asked in shock whether you were really my mom. And of course, I am proud to say you are.

You have exemplified to us that we ought to be generous givers especially to the ones who cannot return the favor. I will remember and apply this lesson even as I am older.

When i encountered a very difficult time during my teenage years, you reminded me that God has His purposes. That in spite of what I’m experiencing, am still so blessed by God. You said, “Apple, remember that you are very blessed because you have us, your family for support.” That even if you didn’t understand what I was going through, that I can lean on you. And indeed, you were right! I am immensely blessed.

Ma, you showed me how to be strong and taught me that problems are a part of life. You are a living example of Gods faithfulness, that His Wonderful Plan will unfold in our lives even when times are tough.

You have modeled simplicity for me ever since I was young. No need for make-up, for much jewelry or branded stuff.  Things don’t need to be branded to be beautiful… Wag masyado maraming “keme“, diba ma? You are a content woman. I love that about you.

You taught me to be transparent and true to myself and to others. Know that this lesson has been learned and will continue to be taught even in my own family.

I still remember the many times we sang and danced together both in the car and in your room. 2 wacky women going loka just because we like the music playing on the radio.

We laughed out loud even if it were just one of our own made up corny jokes. You made life fun ma! Thank you for showing me that life can be fun in the simplest of ways.

You also showed and taught me that people who love me ought to love me for who I am and what I believe in because that’s what love is all about-acceptance.

I will miss your loving and healing hands that comfort me when I am sad, nervous or sick as I don’t live with you anymore. You know that your embrace will never be replaced. I will miss your blooper hirits that will make me go whuuut?! And laugh out loud. I will miss you ma.  I love you!
