Transcending Abundance

Studies have shown that people switch their view of abundance to a more spiritual focus during their 40’s. We can assume that it is because they have a better view of the big picture.

A ‘been there done that’ stage in life.

How can we make that shift early on? Do we need to reach age 40 before we see things differently? What if we don’t get to that age and enter a cycle of manic depression and anxiety – as is increasing in this day and age?

What is Abundance?

A lot of people consider abundance to be the next “If Only” in life:

“If only I have this…”

“If only I had that…”

It is relative to the next BIG WANT.

Without any real definition of abundance, we are going in circles chasing after material things, status, fame, relationships, and whatever else that can stir up our desires.

A lot of people don’t know this, but there is actually an absolute definition of abundance.

“How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.” Psalm 36:7-8

Abundance is found in the Kingdom of God.

The pursuit of abundance in this life has been proven to be miserable.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll doesn’t lead to real abundance – it leads to the insatiable pursuit of more – which leads to disappointment then to misery then it ultimately leads to depression.

God’s way has transcended all the material “If Only’s” and takes our insatiable desire to the eternal – thus satisfying completely and deeply.

This requires faith.

If we keep on working then we are left wanting like the rest of the world. Working in the physical with leave a cave of physical wants.

Yes, working physically is important but here’s what we are missing: work on the spiritual as well.

Increasing your faith enables you to transcend physical wants and see a clearer picture of the eternal. Only then will our definition of abundance transcend the material to the soul.

Tapping into eternity.
