Tons of ideasI’m in Bohol right now – funny how it’s now just 2 hours away from Cebu via boat. Last night was crazy – just hours and hours of talking with Grant Merriel over Mojitos and Sake.

Here’s some of the things I learned:

1) Value, value, value, sell

It’s so simple that I wanted to just slap myself in the face. How could I have missed this strategy with SEO School? I’ve been doing it for ages in the SEO Hacker blog that I was blindsided to how I can apply this in SEO school’s email drip-feed.

My takeaway: Change the email drip-feed from a sale, sale, sale to a value, value, value, sale strategy. This ought to be exciting.

2) Give your individual teammates a goal they want to achieve

It doesn’t have to be about money or salary. It can be a dream vacation or an achievement for their family. It can be anything. But it has to be tangible and it has to have a deadline.

For example: “I want to have a salary of 40k/mo after 5 years” – Good! We want to give this to you. What do you think you should to to achieve this? Let’s outline your KPIs.

Short term goals and long-term goals are awesome for direction. Let’s help each other achieve our goals!

This guy’s a genius!

3) Process Documentation

We can’t always keep up teaching every new hire each process we have. It’s time that we have documents that we update per FAQ of new hires so that they will just always refer to the document and semi-automate (if not automate) our training process.

The great thing about process documentation is that if there are roadblocks or questions that a new hire would have, he/she can just refer to the document and it would be resolved. No sweat.

It’s a huge workload to undertake but that’s going to be my main project at the turn of the year. It’s a very exciting project and I’m hoping it would boost our efficiency by a hundredfold.

It doesn’t need to be a solo project, it can be curated content internally. I’m not the best go-to guy for linkbuilding and for web development so I’ll need to offload that to the point persons in my team. Revisions, FAQs and answers can come from the internal team as well. It’s a system that can run on its own given a good, structured runway.

4) Send out emails to a massive list about Freemium accounts in SEO School

I tried doing this but I did it wrong (#fail). Grant opened up a new idea of how I can do this. I’m extremely excited to actually pull it off. It’s such an irony that everyone is shifting towards ‘Holiday mode’ now and I have tons of exciting work to do.

Honestly, Grant is one of those business geniuses that is up-to-date with the latest technologies, online marketing strategies, business development and team management strategies that I would recommend to anyone. I would go to Cebu just to visit this guy and get an hour of his time to exchange ideas.

Thanks Grant. And thanks for the Koala.
