This year has been one heck of a whirlwind. Perhaps one of the most stressful years or perhaps it’s just because of my memory not being as sharp. I’m sure there were harder years but this one seemed really hard.

I don’t write open letters or journals anymore these days. Most of my posts have a lesson or a purpose tucked behind it for entrepreneurs or critical thinkers. This is perhaps the first one I’m doing – just to close the year.

It’s our last day in the office today as a team. 2019 has been a really good year by God’s grace. It is the year that our team grew from 32 people to 51. We have also been able to expand our portfolio of clients by an amazing rate.

The sweet progress that we made this year also brought tons of challenges with it. Scaling up challenges mostly.

We had to deal with problems in the team that we have never dealt with before. Crazy stuff. But we grew as a team and as individuals along the way because of these things. Perhaps God allowed them to happen so that we will be able to deal with them better in the future.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I am looking forward to the holidays.

Scaling up is a different uphill climb altogether. I could argue that it might just be even harder than when you were starting up because you have much more to lose.

I mean, if I fail, 50 people would literally lose their livelihood. But at the same time I need to embrace mistakes and failure in our team and move forward. So long as we don’t have fatal or repeated mistakes, we’re going to be ok.

The thought of failing 50 people is quite daunting though. I cannot put my mind to it and be paralyzed by it. I need to keep on creating, innovating and moving the company forward.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a wonderful, dynamic and smart team. We have an amazing chemistry that extremely few other teams have. But we also have challenges to behold.

Perhaps when the dust settles and everything has fallen into place we can have some peace in our time at SEO Hacker.
