what does the bible say about duterte

Duterte. Just that name sparks tons of emotions in the hearts of many, many people. Not just Filipinos. Whenever I go around and the topic revolves around that name, people expect me to be either one of three things: Pro, Anti or Neutral.

Why can’t I just be faithful?

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” – Romans 13:1

Take note that the context of this verse is during the time of Roman occupation and rule. Israel must have been furious towards their Roman government as they were paying taxes as well as experiencing prejudicial oppression at the same time.

In all, they were not happy. But God’s Word is clear about this state of mind.

I’m especially appalled by Christians who have very strong emotions and opinions against the government and share it as a form of past-time gossip with other people. As these people clearly do not fear God and yet call themselves as Christians.

The best thing to do is to keep doing what is right according to God’s Word, pray, and do what we can in making our nation great. Rarely does part-time gossip and slander against the administration a part of that.
