Mascara festival bacolodLots of People with happy faces,

Wearing a simple smiling mask.

Strolling around the main street,

Singing, dancing, having a blast.

I walk around going my own way,

No mask on my face, not tonight.

The wind is chill on my back,

No breeze slips through the crowd.

It’s funny when you think of it,

Behind those masks are pursed lips.

They don’t have to smile tonight,

No, not tonight.

It’s the Bacolod Mascara festival,

Everyone’s out to have a good time.

As if there is no moon to lull them,

No there’s no moon, not tonight.

Amidst the crowd I see a face,

She slowly walks and makes her way.

I stop and stare for a while,

I won’t get to know her, not tonight.

We pass by a float, no make that two,

My mind wonders at the tought of you.

And where you could be at this time,

And yet I say to myself no, not tonight.

So I move on watching the lights,

They move and shine and give joy.

To this otherwise dark, dreary night,

But darkness ain’t far, no, not tonight.

So we buy a beer, make that two,

Waiting for the cheers to expire.

And our smiles fly with them,

The masks just won’t do, no, not tonight.

So I send you a short mesage,

Asking you how you are.

As the minutes fly, I get concerned,

But I tell myself no, not tonight.

In all this I know 4 days is too short,

And my time here will pass me by.

I think to take one step at a time,

And I tell my worries no, not tonight.

Yet 4 Days is too long a time for me,

And as I think about going home.

I just hope to be there to see you,

So I rest my mind and tell myself no, not tonight.

I live on and write down my story,

Tell it to God and bid Him goodnight.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you,

And so I dream of you tonight, my darling.

Just for tonight.
