Success. Such an elusive word, right? Something we all want to attain and yet so few of us ever consider ourselves to be. I did my research and it turns out that I’m at the top 0.1% of people in their 30’s in the world terms of net worth and annual income.
All of this came from literally nothing – I had nothing going on for me, I was an almost kick-out student and I’m not a bright kid at all. So how was I able to achieve this level of success?
Not Money but Spirit
Every good thing in my life came from serving God. If you don’t believe that, well, it’s the truth.
I served in the ministry since I was 13 years old – just doing small things like ushering and greeting people. Then I went on to start my own discipleship group also at a young age. Then I went on to serve in the singles ministry all the way until I got married. I also wrote for the Lord in this blog for a very long time – up until today!
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
This verse is literally how my life’s success has been built. Everyday, I seek God’s Kingdom.
Maybe you’re asking “What the heck does that mean?”
It means that you are living your life here on Earth as if Jesus is already the current King or President. It means that you are doing everything He wants you to do. And you get to know what exactly God wants you to do if you have a real relationship with Him by reading God’s Word and praying.
Passion and Hard Work
A lot of the stuff in social media and the internet at large will tell you that success can be had if you work hard, meditate, picture yourself as the best you can be or just think positive. While all of those may help, they are missing one critical factor – the spirit. None of them in the list (yes including meditation) deals with your spirit.
What use is all the discipline, hard work, money and success if your spirit is weak, thin and fragile?
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” – Matthew 16:26
I would argue that you first have to strengthen your spirit and then have all of the add-ons.
If you have been following me in this blog (and I have been blogging for over a decade now), you already know that my businesses started from a simple blog where I wrote about my journey as a single, Christian guy. It wasn’t my intention to have a business nor to be successful nor to lead people. But all these things were added to me as well.
The secret to my success? Live as if Jesus is already your King today. Seek first His Kingdom.
I hope that his post spoke to you. If it did, please share this with someone who might find it valuable as well.
