Men who’ve been to the moon – Even fantasies have an ending, happy or not: God and you

Men who’ve been to the moon – Even fantasies have an ending, happy or not: God and you

I’m one who loves fantasy stories. My favourite Bible stories are those of a supernatural account. My favourite movies are the Lord of the rings trilogy and Stardust. I love reading books about fantasy and fiction. All in all, I’m one heck of a fantasy guy.Was reading an article in time magazine entitled “Moon Walkers” and it talked about men who’ve been on the moon. They had different experiences in their space travels and in their time being on the moon and exploring its physique. These men have been to a place other than Earth. In all of history, they’ve never imagined of attaining such a feat. But now something which used to be impossible has been achieved.Going to the moon used to be a fantasy. And in the minds of these men, they’ve done something which only was possible in the fantasy of their lives. The article then talks of what happened when they got back. And they explained about how they shot up in fame, getting movie directors make a film about them and their lives and their adventures. But back on Earth, they realized, “What am I doing here?”They were back from their place of fantasy. They were back in reality. In Earth, where you have to work for money, where you have to eat to live, where there are other people who don’t know you, who don’t care, where fun is temporary and where everything is always busy. They were back here on Earth and that’s the first question that shot up in their minds.Made me think: What if... What if we were like them. We achieved the fantasy of our lives. We got to where we wanted to be. I don’t care if it’s real or not. But then, even after we have achieved it and have come to the place we wanted to be, wouldn’t we, sooner or later go back to reality? At least to the reality of age and death? It’s a sad thing, to see the picture of Neil Armstrong when he was young and strong and had all his dreams and goals ahead of him, and now he’s 75 and he’s here on Earth and he’s old and the new generation has come up and his generation is fading. What will matter in all he did? Will his landing on the moon matter forever? Will his achieving his fantasies matter when he’s old or even when he’s dying? It just made me think. And it made me realize that we really have to focus our hearts on the things that are eternal. Even fantasies have an ending - happy or not. But the things that are eternal will never come to pass. We're all moonwalkers at some point in our lives. But the important thing about it is, what do we do once we get back to our Earth? What happens when reality hits us in the face and we're leagues away from that fantasy life we've dreamed?Think about it. Please don't hesitate to leave comments =) I would greatly appreciate it and would like to hear your thoughts and engage in a conversation with you.

Ever wonder about the church and homosexuality?

Ever wonder about the church and homosexuality?

It's a rare topic to be tackled by church these days because for most people (especially in democratic countries like ours) it's a sensitive and controversial issue. But for God, black is black and white is white. Homosexuality must be discussed in the third lens, the Bible's point of view. Pastor Dennis talks about the Bible and homosexuality. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

First of all: I really have no idea what G.I. in G.I. Joe stand for so I looked up in the net. Apparently up until now, it is still unknown. I know, I know... What the heck, right? But here’s what I dug up:http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question13171.htmlhttp://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question14954.htmlhttp://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question20794.htmlApparently, there are 3 speculations about it and even the ones who posted it aren’t sure if that’s the real meaning... Anyway...Watched it tonight with my dad, my mom and my sister. Had sucky seats because it’s opening night T_T but it was alright since I enjoyed the movie quite a lot.I didn’t get some of the conversation though because the sounds weren’t too good – but I think it’s the cinema’s problem. The movie started out with a scene that looked like it was during the medieval age. It just explained the history of the character of “Destro.” I didn’t think that was too important but anyhow, the story starts out with a major threat which is embodied by a handful of nano-technology enhanced warheads. And the plot develops from there. I haven’t really been a fan of the G.I. Joe cartoon series when I was young. I would rather have watched Voltes V, Daimos and Gundam during those days so I’m not one to judge and criticize the transition of the story from the cartoon series to the movie. But what I do know is that it was very entertaining. The graphics were really cool and I would never tire of the idea of the iron-man-like suit. I want one of those. They really did a lot especially with the destruction of one of the world’s most popular landmarks. I really love the work they put into the graphics. The plot is interesting. In fact, I did not guess some of the twists because I didn’t expect them to turn as such. It went quite smoothly, though it’s not too perfect. The acting, that’s the only part where I must say they didn’t do a pretty good job. Especially in the scene where Duke (the lead character – who is played by the lead actor from the movie Step Up) was in the operating table. It was a horrible scene because the acting was horrible. I was, in fact, appalled at the acting. But, I’m not saying that it ruins the whole movie, though that scene has stuck in my mind even up to now. It’s just that, they should have remade the scene at least to give the acting a second shot.Other than that, my only comment about it is that it has the feeling of the early action hero movies. Maybe they really intended to add a touch of its cartoon counterpart into it.All in all, it’s a very entertaining movie and I enjoyed it a lot, especially with my family.Overall, I give it: 3.5 stars

Why are men so competitive? God and His glory

Why are men so competitive? God and His glory

Was about to sleep last night and I was brushing my teeth when a thought came to mind. Why am I so competitive? Why do men have a competitive nature? Like it or not, admit it or not, everyone is competitive in one way or another – that’s why we tend to compare. Oftentimes, we compare ourselves to someone whom we would like to compete our standards with.So to answer the question why, I think it’s because if you get through the competition and win, you ought to be glorified. Glorified by men. Glorified mostly by the people you’ve competed with. But what is glory?Ever in this Earth will men seek for glory for it is instilled in his heart with an ever crafty design – God’s design. So that when we pant for glory, when we seek and thirst for it, we would look for God. For in the end, He alone can forever quench our seemingly endless thirst for glory. The world is temporary and it will all fade away.Your glory here will never last. You need an eternal realm for your glory to be remembered forever. But what is glory indeed? Let me try to describe its being: Its nature is to be remembered. Its object is to be praised. Its unfolding must be a legend. But what use is it if the realm wherein it stands is a forgetful one? One that doesn’t last? The only TRUE glory comes from God and He has set the standards and the road we must walk to attain it. True glory has eternal praise and it will be remembered forever – without limits nor end. The competition, the REAL competition, is a competition to serve God. To be a man after His own heart. And many men of God has already gone through the tough, life-changing competition. I can only imagine the glory they would call their own for all eternity. That is the one and only REAL competition. Everything else is an illusion because it will not last forever.Men are made in the image and LIKENESS of God. God has a competitive nature as well. He will never want to be compared to idols of wood nor stone nor clay nor anything else His majesty has conjured. God will always want a number 1 place in your heart. He doesn't want to be second best, to be second priority, He wants to be top!Think about it. Your competitive nature can only be, in the end, quenched by God through everything you've ever done for Him. Start now. Build up your everlasting glory. And learn to make God number 1 in your heart so that in the end, your praise will come from an ETERNAL God, making your glory ETERNAL and known by the most powerful and most competitive being.

August 6, 2009 – Wet, and mushy shoes and socks

The rain was so hard today that I really didn't want to go to school. But I can't refuse because my thesis leader is going to get angry if I suddenly change my mind. So I went out. And I got my shoes soaked with canal water inside out. It felt all mushy- in a disgusting sort of way.Inside the bus, I had to turn off the airconditioning on my seat because I was all wet and the chill is beginning to really get into me. I continued to read the book "Rich dad poor dad" from where I left off. It talked about fear and the chicken little inside all of us which makes noise, yelling out: "The sky is falling!" When it really isn't.Got to school about 12 pm and had lunch with my thesis leader's blockmates in Rap's. The lunch was pretty heavy and it was all goodstuff. Had chicken lollipops. Most of us, if not all, on that table, were Chinese. Which turned out to be a good thing because they paid for my extra rice! Haha! Thanks guys!Went home with Jikay after a tiring day. It wasn't boring for all of the jokes and whatnots that we talked about in CSO where we tried to fix our thesis. There were four of us in the car: Me, Jikay (who was the driver for today), Phillip (whom I just had the pleasure of being introduced to) and Josh (my brother's dgroup mate).Had a lot of fun riding home with these guys. Even if it was traffic (which I think wasn't so bad coz we were enjoying ourselves), we got home pretty fast. Had time to reflect too as we were headed south. Time flies so fast and soon I'll find myself working and going places. I'm going to miss my family and being a kid (which I think I still am, mind you) and I'm going to miss everything else that I'm going to be leaving behind. A new chapter in life doesn't always mean a happy chapter - but you'd have to go on in order for you to finish the whole story. Thanks for the ride home Jikay! Ang saya grabe! Next week ulit kasama na si Bettina! PS: 40 pesos pala yung trycicle T_T so technically mas mahal pa pala hahaha! Pero ok lang! Yung company naman yung importante eh =D

A Vampire and the Moon – A poem worth reading by my friend Jocs Malacaman

A Vampire and the Moon – A poem worth reading by my friend Jocs Malacaman

A Vampire and the MoonI waved at the moon and it smiled back As I gave a toast to the heavens. In the black of the night, she was my companion And together, we were merry. Then one night, I stare at the sky To see that the moon is not there. I waited and waited until merciful sleep Whisked me away into my dreams. There the moon did shine and so the stars in the sky And together, we were merry. The next night, I waited for my moon to rise; This time she did appear. And with the stars in the sky, We danced the night away And together, we were merry. One night, I saw an orb of radiant light, So familiar and yet so distant. A piece of cardboard spoke to me Of that one star which is one lifetime away. I asked the moon and silent, she remained And together, we were merry. My moon was just a memory, a faint reflection of the past and nothing more Than a lifeless stone in the coldness of space And yet together, we were merry. For it is all I have left of my beloved sun, which burns me in her presence. Nothing but a chunk of a heavenly lie Engulfed by darkness in the night sky And yet together, we were merry~ by The Argent Poet on 06/23/2009.Here's the link to his blog: http://argentpoet.wordpress.comJocs Malacaman is a good friend of mine whom I met through playing World of Warcraft TCG. August 5, 2009 help! I need a company for OJT!

So it's a rainy day after all. I can't play basketball outside and I just started this blog site. I'm excited on all the things I'm going to write down in it. Feels like a lazy day because the sky is dark gray and gloomy. Was supposed to work in the office today but apparently, HP isn't accepting interns anymore. And I have to find a company for my OJT soon. Any good companies you might want to suggest? I need help T_T

Tuneless Lament

Tuneless Lament

Sitting here at my desk, writing this song in my dim, lonely room In front of me, I see myself When I was young through the glass of a picture frameThen my eyes shift to the mirror Which tells me I'll get better soon CozI'm not alright Though it may seem I'm all fixed I'm just glued porcelain You'll see the cracks clearly from the insideI am Jack's misunderstood heartBut this isn't a love song it's not meant to be Who can understand me?Soothe meWhen everything in this world seems meaningless, you suddenly become realI need love -> Not criticism I need love -> Not discouragement I need love -> Not another set of rulesI am the prodigal son I am the lost coin I am the hypocrite I am the lost soulSo Save meAnd when I cry to bleed my tears away It saddens me to think That everyone's posessed to some degree And the only way to be ultimately free is for this prison to dieWill you judge me now As you see me like thisWritten July 18, 2009 9:00pm
